Purely as a matter of curiosity - did you install a new antivirus, or new version or update, in the days just before this started happening?

I don't have this situation, but the antivirus on one of my computers wants to update every four hours and wants a reboot every time - I slap it down so it sends sulky nag messages at me instead, but I can see if I'd set certain [parameters wrong I could get unwanted reboots.
