| With document open in Word, Tools|Options|Print for Default Tray make sure "Use printer settings" is displayed. Then, click File|Print in taskbar and in Printer settings, is name of your default printer appearing as Default Printer? |

| All those checks are correct. Everything checks out exactly as described. Dan |

Give this a try.
- Make sure you do not have Microsoft Word open.
- Go to Start|Search and click All files and folders.
- Scroll down the left pane and make sure "Search hidden files and folders" (in XP it will be under the "Advanced" tab) is checked.
- Search for the filename: normal.dot or normal. Delete all instances of this file. (Do not worry as Word will recreate these files when restarted.
Reopen word and try to print. Sometimes the normal.dot file will get corrupted and cause print jobs not to register correctly.

I have searched just liked I am suppossed to, found 3 versions of normal.dot..deleted them all..restarted computer..No Luck in getting it to print..noted the following things in word. My default font had been replaced and when opening the printer dialog box instead of "printer status" ready it now says "Idle" and whn I go to close down word I get this error message "Word is curently printing. Quitting Word will cancel all pending print jobs. Do you want to quit word" Yes or No....
also the printer icon shows up in the task bar when I do try to print. Humbug |

Ah ha! You have a print job stuck in the printing queue. You should be able to right click on the icon in your system tray and cancel the print job it will show there (it may take a minute or two). If that does not work, turn off your computer, unplug your printer from the wall, wait a couple of minutes, plug your computer back and in and restart your computer.
Still no luck, get back to us.
Mark
PS: This is a very common problem. I'm surprised it hasn't happened to you before. Lucky man! |

My printer que is clear. but lo and behold it prints fine when I click on "Print Preview" and the printer icon. Perhaps I should well enough alone?
Just still will not print from the "home" window. |
