NEVER has the Review Panel been so unanimous in their support of a program as it has with WinPatrol PLUS. I'd have to add my agreement as well. I've used Scotty the Wonder Dog for many years and it's one slick piece of software. Take a look at the review at http://www.NeatNetTricks.com/SoftwareReviews and learn more about this one if you haven't already tried it.
The program is free at http://www.winpatrol.com but, as with many programs, the paid version offers so much more. I've talked Bill P. into giving NNT readers a discount and the deal is available at http://www.NeatNetTricks.com/store
I'd like to hear what others think about Scotty. |

What a nice surprise! I stopped by NeatNetTricks to see what changes have occured since my last visit and read the fantastic review of WinPatrol. Without a doubt, I am a long-time fan of WinPatrol, having had Scotty the Windows Watchdog on patrol since the days of Win95.
One of the features that I particularly like is the ease of disabling startup programs. I have found that Scotty has a good memory too. For example, since the Sun Java update checker (SunJavaUpdateSched) is essentially useless, I had Scotty disable it some time ago. Sun snuck out an update this past week. After uninstalling the previous version, I updated to the new SunJava build this morning. Even though it had been uninstalled, Scotty remembered that I wanted that Sun startup entry disabled.
There is a good description of WinPatrol features in WinPatrol Help. As a long-time fan of WinPatrol, I like to keep tabs on what Bill Pytlovany has to say and am subscribed to the RSS feed for his blog Bits From Bill. |

I've been trying to get into the store to purchase but it's not listed. |

Nope. (You snooze, you lose Most promos such as this are limited to 45 days. That one stayed on the store for 60 days and was a big hit, but I couldn't ask Bill P. to give the price break forever. |
