| Well I shot my bird for my annual wildgame BBQ. He wasn't very big but I'm sure he'll be taste. I think it small enough to put it on the spit and slow roast him. Now I 'll be more selective in what I shot and I'm looking to upgrade my score big time. |

Congrats to you fellas! Where's 'this lil piggy' been? I haven't heard from him in a bit, I guess he's at market buying groceries since he can't seem to kill or grow his own. Fried turkey strips sure were good last night! _________________ Three times, every time! |

Well, the season in AR is almost over. The weather has been horrible. I have one more chance to hunt Sunday, but there's a 70% chance of heavy rain & thunderstorms in the forecast. Congrats to you guys who have taken birds and put our team on the board. Looks like I'm gonna have to go out of state next year to have a chance to get a bird, we have a serious problem with turkey numbers in AR. _________________ "We do it different round here that's right. | I'm done, tagged out. I had to save my decoy from attack this morning. Another jake wanted to beat him up. This bird is a small upgrade from my first one. For those that have got a bird, congrats and for those still chasing them, good luck. |

Didn't get out this weekend, but got out this afternoon. Finally closed one out. Not huge but a decent bird. Details to follow

Got my score posted, now for the story:
I got out at about 11:30 today on some property I have access to west of Salina, KS and to say it was windy would be an understatement. I don't know the exact wind speed but it seemed like it was steady at about 35mph with gusts to 45mph. Anyway, I get to a little cove that is kind of out of the wind and hunker down under a big cedar and wait for the evening hunt. About an hour later I swore I heard a gobble off in the distance, which I was not expecting given the time of day. I pulled out the WTZ travel call from last year that the fellas sent to me in Iraq and let rip with the loudest yelps I could muster out of her. I hear nothing further and figure the ole boy was just gobbling at the wind. About thirty minutes after that I'm settin under the cedar and my butt is getting sore so I start to shift around a little and while I'm doing that I hear an alarm putt. I turn around and there the ole boy is right behind me on the other side of the tree. Well men, I'm pretty quick with the scattergun when I need to be and I swung around and actually shot thru the tree limbs and down he went. I figured at 11 feet some shot would have to hit its mark. Turns out just about all the shot hit its mark and there wasn't alot left of his head.
Tagged him and called it a good day

I'm being transferred to Ft. Sill, OK at the end of the month so this morning I made up my mind that I had to make hay while the sun shined.
I heard some gobbling off in the distance and headed that way. Got set up and started talking on the WTZ travel call and they responded well. I could tell there were at least two birds and maybe more. Well, they flew down right into my set up and sure enough there were four birds, all jakes. Took the biggest of the four, and he wasn't that big. It was entertaining to watch the other three start whuppin up on the one I shot after he was down. Anyway, my season is over. Good luck to all who are still huntin _________________ All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing |

JT,
My niece and her new husband just moved to Fort Sill as well. He just finished college and they have moved down there for his assignment. Small world! _________________ Go Dawgs!
