As our spring season grows closer the moderators have decided to continue the tradition of our annual contest. Without a doubt things will a little diffferent so let's do this In Memory of Bossgobbler

Here are the rules for our Spring 2007 Turkey Contest.

Contest is open only to members who were approved as of Jan. 1-2007. If you have a child under 18 who wants to enter the contest, this can be done by entering them under your user name. Please make a note of it on the entry by saying "Youth Division" and please give them a user name.

Contest entries are due by 9:00 pm Eastern, Feb. 28. The contest will run through June 2, which will allow any of those late season hunters to get their entries in after the season is over. We will take the 5 best scoring turkeys from each team, regardless of subspecies. Only 1 turkey may be used from each team member for the team score. Each hunter can, however, enter as many birds as he wants for the individual awards.

The sign up sheet for the contest in located in the Turkey Forum. Sign up there and we will assign you to a team.

Each contestant must score their own bird and post the score along with the bird's measurements. We will check each score but it will save some time for us trying to check all of the scores.

We will recognize winners for the following categories--

Best Team Score
Best Overall Typical
Best Overall Non-Typical
Best Overall Typical Bird in each Subspecies
Best Overall Non-Typical Bird in each Subspecies
Best Youth (18 & under) Bird
Best First Bird - (If this is the first turkey for you ever, let us know)
Best Archery Bird
Longest Beard Overall
Longest Spurs Overall (Total of both spurs' lengths)
Heaviest Overall

The winners will be posted in the Turkey Forum at the end of the contest period.

Any questions or comments on the rules can be posted here. We are trying to keep it as simple as possible and keep it fun. This is just an informal contest, no prizes or entry forms or anything, but it gives us a chance to keep up with everyone's season, meet some new turkey hunters, and gives some bragging rights as well.
